Interview With Clare
Who are your clients exactly?
My clients are very varied but they are all looking to get stronger, reduce their aches and pains and feel more confident in how their body looks, moves and feels.
Our pregnancy classes cater to those from 12-40 weeks pregnant, whilst our postnatal classes are suitable from 8 weeks post-partum. These classes are a great way to meet other parents who are conscious of their health and wellbeing and who want to feel at their best.
Our Mixed Ability classes contain those of all ages, backgrounds, genders and lifestyles. We are very inclusive and I am so proud of how friendly and welcoming our classes are. You’ll meet a really diverse and interesting group of people!
Who will your programmes work for?
Our classes and 1-1 coaching sessions work for anyone who is willing to make a commitment to their health and wellness. My clients are people who understand that their bodies, and minds, need looking after and that consistency is key. They have decided that a life of aches, pains, feeling bad about their bodies and chronic health issues is not for them.
They have probably already tried the method of ‘hoping’ their aches and pains will go away and ignoring them, but now realise this doesn’t work and that taking consistent action is necessary.
My clients have often tried painkillers and other medical interventions with limited or no results. Often, they have been offered invasive medical solutions they are looking to avoid. They realise that the only sustainable solution to a life of better health and wellbeing is through introducing healthy, enjoyable habits such as Pilates.
Where do your classes take place?
We offer a blend of face to face, live online and on-demand classes as well as a range of Self-Guided Courses.
Our face to face classes take place at various venues across Brighton and Hove (Please see the class timetable for specific locations).
What type of person do I need to be to make this work?
You need to be someone who is open-minded and genuinely willing to allocate time for the results you seek, especially if you are new to exercise and Pilates specifically.
You need to know why you are doing this and be committed to that goal as results in health and wellbeing don’t always come quickly or easily. You need to be patient, curious to learn something new and committed to the process. This approach will not only bring you results but, enable you to enjoy the journey and gain a self-awareness that will bring much broader improvements to your health and wellbeing.
I’ve tried lots of stuff before and nothing has worked. Does this really work?
Pilates can offer many benefits such as improved posture, increased strength and the ability to reduce back pain without medication or intervention as well as forming part of a healthier lifestyle. It has changed many of our clients’ lives and made them feel empowered and in control of their bodies once again. Don’t just take my word for it, have a look at what others have to say in the success stories section.
These amazing things can be achieved so long you are consistent with your practice and you make it a habit. We will be there for you, to help you along the way, but ultimately you are in control of your own success. Remember, results don’t appear over night but if you stick with it, you really can transform your health for the rest of your life.
If I’m not sure I’m ready to get started, how can I sample your work to see if it’s the right solution for me?
If you would like to attend face to face classes, you can try your first class for free (or pay for a single session depending on the venue). If you are interested in our live and on-demand classes, you can try the first 7 days for free.
If you are interested in 1-1 coaching or are not sure what will suit you best, I am always happy to arrange a phone call to chat through your challenges and goals.
You can also follow me on Facebook where I publish a lot of great content with useful hints and tips, along with many of my client testimonials which will give you an insight into the benefits of my classes.
What results can I expect?
Our clients usually float out of the room after class! I can see them standing taller, shoulders back, enjoying the increased mobility in their joints and spine, along with a release of tension in their muscles that they can immediately feel. They love feeling well worked from top to toe!
You’ll breathe better and increase your body awareness which means you’ll have all the tools you need to identify when your body isn’t feeling so good and know what changes to make to feel better.
Our clients tell us that they feel calmer, less stressed, they can think more clearly and that these mental benefits have had a huge impact on how they interact at work and at home. They enjoy making new friends with the other participants and having an hour of time to focus on themselves.
All these physical, mental and emotional changes will make you feel happier and more confident in your body.
How quickly can I expect results?
Clients feel immediately better even after one session; standing taller, feeling calmer, noticing muscles that haven’t been worked in a while! However, to really experience the benefits of Pilates, as with any change to your lifestyle, it does take a little time; 4 weeks is usually enough to reflect back and realise how far you’ve come. And, the longer you stay on the journey, the more and better results you will get. We recommend two sessions per week for the best results.
It sounds great but I don’t have time?
Is your wellbeing and happiness a priority? If yes, then you will find the time, just as all our clients have done and they all have a combination of work and family commitments too.
If you can’t make a session face to face then you can always join us live online instead or watch back the class recording when you do have the time. You are ultimately looking for 60 minutes per week; that’s 0.6% of your week!
Do I need to be fit to keep up in the sessions?
Not at all – we have members of varying fitness levels and for every exercise and stretch we offer options so that everyone can take part at the level they are comfortable with. Having taught for so many years, I am able to provide suitable adaptations and modifications for any situation on the spot!
Is it going to be really hard?
No, not at all. Gentle encouragement is what it’s all about. You will be able to progress at a pace that suits you and your abilities. Like anything new, you will just need to take the time to adjust and feel comfortable with everything, but rest assured we would never teach you exercises that are impossible. Challenging yes, impossible no!
